Crestview Golf Club

General Course DescriptionCrestview golf

Crestview Golf Club is a 9-hole public course located in the hills above the Central Oregon Coast (about 40 miles south of Lincoln City and 80 miles north of Coos Bay). Although short and without ocean views, Crestview Golf Club is a scenic course with a variety of holes. There are enough turns, traps, and water to make the low handicapper think; but the forward tee boxes take out a lot of the hazards and make the course simple to play for an almost beginner. Almost every green has a challenge (most are tiered, others have humps). Overall, the course is well maintained, and provides a relaxed, pleasant walk.

Course History

Built in 1969. The course was materially remodeled in 2009. In the 2020s, several houses were added to the middle of the course (without changing the layout).

Why It Is There

Originally Georgia Pacific timberland, the locals wanted a country club.  So Beryl Atkinson and Vernon Allen built the course as part of a residential development. In 2009, the course was substantially remodeled by the present owners and now has a loyal following.

I Wish I Would Have Known Before I PlayedCrestview golf

Hole 5 (named in 2017 by the OGA as one of the most interesting golf holes in Oregon) is a short par 4 with a dogleg left towards the end. It is possible to drive through the dogleg (so just clear the waste area for an easy uphill chip).

Did You Know

In 2015 there were three consecutive (that’s right, consecutive) holes-in-one spanning two separate groups on the par-3 4th hole.

Good For Them

Rain is collected in the ponds and then used for irrigation. No pesticides, and fertilizer is applied by hand through spot spraying. They have free teaching camps for juniors. Home course for Waldport High School.  They annually hold a Memorial Day Tournament to benefit the Mario Pastega House that provides housing for patients and their families traveling to Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Corvallis for specialized medical care.

Why Play This CourseCrestview golf

If you are lucky enough to travel this part of the Oregon Coast, it is well worth a visit, with some interesting holes and a very friendly staff. A nice place to play for people of all skill levels.
