McMenamins Edgefield Pub Courses

General Course DescriptionMcMenamins Edgefield golf

McMenamins Edgefield Pub Courses are part of a food, beer, wine, spirts, music, hotel, and 3-par complex about 15 miles east of downtown Portland. McMenamins Edgefield Pub Courses are two 3-par courses, one with 20 holes (the West Course) and the other with 9 holes (the East Course). The courses wind around the back and sides of McMenamins Edgefield hotel, restaurants, brewery, and distillery. Tee boxes are mats. Holes are generally short and go up and down the hillside (some sharply), affording views of the Columbia. The main issues are the encroaching blackberry bushes (make sure to take several balls). Although hilly, the course is very short and walkable.

Course History

Originally an 18-hole par 3 built in 1998 (now mostly the East Course). Redesigned in 2007. From 1911 to 1982, the property was the county poor farm (and the course was farmland for the poor farm). The building was almost destroyed, but was saved by the McMenamin brothers. The building is now on the National Register of Historic Places.

Why It Is ThereMcMenamins Edgefield golf

Built as part of the McMenamins Edgefield complex.

I Wish I Would Have Known Before I Played

The parking lot and pro shop are in the back of the complex. Sometimes it is better to use a putter off a tee.

Did You Know

The foundations near the first few holes on the West Course are what is left of outbuildings for the poor farm. The garden you pass on the last two holes of the East Course produces produce for the restaurants.
