Quail Run Golf Course

General Course DescriptionQuail Run golf

Quail Run Golf Course, an 18-hole public course near La Pine (south of Bend), is a quality course among the pine trees. Although the course has limited views of the mountains, Quail Run Golf Course has beautiful trees, interesting holes, a nice layout, and hardly any houses looking at you (or coming into play). The course is well maintained and has a nice staff.  Forward tees provide shorter distances and better angles.  It is a slightly rolling course, but easy to walk.

Course History

First 9 built in 1991. Second 9 built in 2006 (delay caused by delay in acquiring water rights). Original holes are now 1, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 17, and 18.

Why It Is There

Bill Martin wanted to build a course in La Pine. It now has a good following.

I Wish I Would Have Known Before I PlayedQuail Run golf

The 4th hole has a narrow green that wraps around a trap. With trees and traps coming into play, the pin location will strongly change where you want the location of your approach shot (so check pin placement before you tee off). Also, do not mistake the flag on the left of the green as the flag-it may be the flag for 15.

Did You Know

The course has been visited by a Great Grey Owl since 1998. (For non-birders, the Great Grey Owl is rarely seen in Oregon and is generally confined to Canada.)

Good For Them

The course holds a 4-day junior camp. The course works with La Pine Parks and Recreation to hold clinics for women interested in the game. The course annually hosts a tournament to benefit athletics at La Pine High School as well as the Rex Underwood Memorial Golf Tournament to benefit Gilchrist High School. Home course for La Pine High School.

Why Play This CourseQuail Run golf

This a well-maintained, scenic, and challenging gem of a golf course. Also, very reasonably priced for a public course in Central Oregon.
