Sah-Hah-Lee Golf Course

General Course DescriptionSah-Hah-Lee golf

Sah-Hah-Lee Golf Course is part of a family-owned-and-operated public practice and learning complex in Clackamas, to the southeast of Portland. The 18 (generally short) par-3 holes are like small regulation holes, with traps, water, trees, and a carry to fairways. Sah-Hah-Lee Golf Course is pretty well maintained (particularly the small greens), and has a very friendly staff. Although the course is along the Clackamas River, you rarely see it. The course is a great place to practice your irons, learn the game, or play with the family. Although the clubhouse (and first tee box) is well uphill, the course is otherwise flat and an easy walk.

Course History

Originally a cabbage farm, the course was built in 1991.

Why It Is There

John Lisac convinced his family and the family of his brother Jerry that the family should build and run a course. Originally designed to be a 9-hole regulation course, it became a par 3 course when the local par-3 course closed down. The course is part of an attractive practice complex.

I Wish I Would Have Known Before I PlayedSah-Hah-Lee golf

Don’t be confused by the footgolf pins (using those holes would be cheating). The course does allow golfers and footers to play together. And just because it is a 3-par course, if you want to play well you need to bring the same energy and focus you would need for a regulation course.  Or, forget about the score and just have fun.

Did You Know

Sah-Hah-Lee means “heaven” or “high place” in Upper Chinook (Wasco – Wishram).
