Dallas Golf Club

General Course DescriptionDallas golf club

About 14 miles west of Salem, Dallas Golf Club is a 9-hole public executive course that is  very open, rural, and a good place to learn how to play, but has enough shots of interest (9th hole, a 3-par you hit under a tree then over a tree and a pond) to make it fun for any player. With five par 3s and four par 4s, the course is divided into a lower half and an upper half. It’s a fine walk.

Course History

Opened in 1990 as Sandstrip Golf Course for the old logging road that used to bifurcate the property. Previously farmland, the building closest to the road was the original farmhouse.

Why It Is There

A group of Salem businessmen (including designer Gary Chrisman) thought a course in the area would be a good idea.

The creek adjacent to the course is Rickreall Creek, which rises in the coast range and empties in the Willamette River. The origin of the name of the creek is one of the most disputed issues pertaining to Oregon geographic names, with multiple theories being advanced. A good summary is in Oregon Geographic Names by Lewis L. McArthur.

Good For Them

Members of the local high school golf teams play for free and can use the range for free provided they help to pick up range balls.  The course hosts lots of charity events including the Dallas Quarterback Club Tournament supporting Dallas High School, the Order of the Antelope Golf Tournament supporting wildlife preservation, and the Titus 3 House that provides a safe and structured residence for women transitioning from prison.

Why Play This Course

A nicely maintained course that is a good place to learn and relax at a very good price.

It’s a nice course but they really raised their prices this year. It’s now $18 for 9 holes for a senior. And $34 for 18 holes. (On their website it says it’s $10 for a senior player, i.e. over 60. It’s actually almost twice that. They need to fix or take down that website.)

My son was shot at with a bow and arrow he was at the 7th hole when an arrow hit his bag and broke the strap on his bag. Police should of been called to look into the incident somebody is going to get hurt out there. Went out there to play some golf on 1/21/2026 I wouldn't even give a one for rating

I have not played course since 2007 but i helped my father build the course and was employed for a few years. It is my greatest pride and joy and to see that it has stayed successful. I was even a member during those years i worked.
