Dutcher Creek Golf Course

General Course DescriptionDutcher Creek golf

Dutcher Creek Golf Course is an 18-hole public course in an attractive rural setting between the Siskiyou and Grayback mountain ranges to the west of Grants Pass. It is a tad short, but is a target course with enough water and trees to keep you focused. Dutcher Creek Golf Course is well maintained with a friendly staff. Forward tees shorten distances and help to skip some hazards. Easy walk, except hills on 9 and 18, but routing is a bit different and there can be long walks between holes.

Course History

Front 9 opened in 1994 and the second 9 opened in 1997. In the past few years the course has altered tee boxes and trimmed up trees.

Why It Is There

The Boersma family owned and operated a dairy farm that had some environmental concerns (because of all the water). The family decided to convert the farm into a golf course.

I Wish I Would Have Known Before I Played

The in-ground yardage markers are more accurate than the yardage signs. On 9, a par 4 dogleg left, you need to stay far right to not have the trees that cover the left side of the green in play. On 5, a par 5, a creek is in the landing area (about 211 yards from the back tee box). On 15, a par 4, there is a pond hidden behind the trap on the left. And on 18, a short par 4, severe dogleg left across a pond, you would have to fly it 300 yards (from the back tees) to reach the green (the sharp turn is at 125 yards from the green).

Did You Know

Dane Boersma of the owning family was the co-founder of Dutch Brothers Coffee. And the coffee in the clubhouse is free.

Good For Them

They host summer junior clinics, focusing on 12 and under. The course annually hosts a tournament to support Crossing Bridges Therapeutic Riding Center.

Why Play This Course

A beautiful and well-maintained course in a very attractive setting for a very good price (the low side of $$). If you are in the area, it’s worth the time.
