Meadowlawn

General Course Description

Meadowlawn is a 9-hole public executive course just off of I-5 in the south part of Salem. Meadowlawn is very well maintained and has five par 4s and four par 3s, with traps, water, and trees. All greens are elevated with a back-to-front slant (so are generally receptive).  Despite it being next to I-5, most holes are fairly quiet. Surrounded by houses, Meadowlawn is very flat and an easy walk.

Course History

Built in 1969 on an old dairy.

Why It Is There

Lee Ohmart and Rudy Calaba Keith built the course and then built the housing development around it.

I Wish I Would Have Known Before I Played

The 7th hole bends around a pond on the right and then turns left to the hole. Because of trees that block the left of the green, best to hit your drive along the right side or about 80 yards in front of the green.

Good For Them

The ditch/creek that runs through the course is a water collector that feeds into the pond on the course. The water is then used for irrigation.

Why Play This Course

Nice place to learn the game or hone your skills. Or, if you are driving up I-5 near Salem and have 90 minutes to spare, it’s a good place to take a break.
