General Course Description"Wildhorse

Just to the east of Pendleton, Wildhorse Resort Golf Course is a very open and well maintained 18-hole public course with attractive holes and vistas of local farmland and the west side of the Blue Mountains. There are many blind drives and carries over traps and sage (so take a yardage book). Forward tees provide a benefit of shorter distances and improved angles. Wildhorse Resort Golf Course is generally rolling and a nice course to walk.

Course History

Opened in 1997. Only layout change thereafter was to add forward tee positions. The remodeled clubhouse opened in 2020. Starting in 2022, the course became a stop on the Epson Tour (qualifying tour for the LPGA).

Why It Is There

Built as part of the Wildhorse Casino Resort. It has generated an increase in golfers in the local area and gained tribal support.

I Wish I Would Have Known Before I Played""

Greens generally break down the valley (or towards the large silo that you can see to the west on most holes).

Did You Know

There is a significant difference between the Black and Blue tees on the 7th hole. This is due to the fact that they found a mammoth tooth in back of the Blue tees requiring a no-disturbance zone around the location of the tooth. The tooth is now at the neighboring tribal museum (which is worth a visit).

Good For Them

The course holds multiple junior clinics and works with Mission Parks and Recreation District (the local tribal parks and recreation organization) to encourage golf for all juniors. Home course for Pendleton and Nixyaawii High Schools. The course also annually conducts multiple women’s clinics.

Why Play This Course"Wildhorse

There is something about hitting from a nice fairway to a green with waves of grain moving behind the green that should not be missed. (It is also a good, well maintained course at a fair price.)
